Ciao a tutti. 🙂

Hello everyone. Mon reviewed the first book of this series, The dreamer, because she was in love with the cover. I think all the books have wonderful covers. Don’t you think? Now the third book is coming out and with the giveaway below you can win the whole series AND an Amazon Gift card!

excerpt

“Tell me about you.”
He tilts his head back to lean against the seat. I’m not sure what it means that he’s not looking at me as he speaks. “Well, I love playing as a pro. It’s been a bit frustrating at times, but I wouldn’t trade it. My teammates are great, too. Maybe you can meet one or two of them while you’re here.”
“I’d like that. What about your family?”
“You already know Ashley had a baby. She’s been married to Oliver for about a year now. She met him in college and he proposed the day after they graduated. Mom and Dad are doing well, too. Dad spends his time on the golf course while Mom makes quilts and does whatever it is she does with her friends. Not much has changed with them. I would ask about your family, but I already know. And since you don’t want to talk about you, I’m not sure if I should ask how you’ve been.”
He does know how they are because according to my parents, he talks to them almost as often as he talks to his own parents. He’s right, too. I don’t want him to ask how I’ve been because if I start talking, I might become a crazy, blubbering mess. “Tell me what you know about my life instead.” Then, I’ll find out how much he knows about Vance. How much he knows about my disastrous life. I’m not sure what he talks about with my parents or how much information my mom provides about me.
“I know you’ve hated dealing with your injury, you’re worried you’ll be forced to leave the game early, and you don’t talk about it if you can help it. From what I hear, you also refuse to talk about your engagement and why it ended. Your parents are worried about you, too. That’s all I know, Mere. You mom only gives me brief updates. She knows I want to know how you’re doing, but she doesn’t want to say too much either, out of respect to you.” He pauses as a flight attendant checks on us and then focuses his attention on me again. “Am I crazy for hoping you’ll talk to me about those things?”
“Yes.” I don’t want to, not yet. Just like I want to find out if he has a girlfriend, but I’m too scared to ask right now.
Noah nods, not looking surprised at all. He leans his head against the seat again, facing forward. “I’ve missed you, Meredith.” Four quietly spoken words that echo loudly in my heart as if he just shouted them.
I glance away, deciding the cloud-filled sky is a more preferable view than this handsome man next to me. “I’ve missed you, too,” I whisper. More than he could ever imagine.

Annie Cooper is fed up with Washington. More importantly, she’s done with being Senator George Cooper’s daughter and all the expectations that come with it. She changes her name and tries to start fresh after quitting her job, but the only position she can find is in the political world she despises.

Kip Porter is a two-term congressman from a blue collar district along the shores of the Chesapeake Bay whose ambition leads him astray from the core values he—and his constituents—hold dear. He needs Senator Cooper’s backing to get his bill through the Senate and plans to use Annie to do it.

What starts out as a simple game of hidden identity soon becomes complicated. Annie wants to prove her worth on her own terms, but the closer she grows to Kip, the more she needs to come clean. With unexpected romance blossoming between them, will Kip keep his own secrets, or reveal the truth in the name of love?

(This is a stand alone romance – you do not need to read Best Friends Book 1 to enjoy this title).

excerpt

Annie felt the sting and quickly slapped the mosquito nibbling on her calf. They’d been sitting in the grassy field for over an hour waiting for the tow truck to arrive. The subs had long ago been eaten, but they lounged on the trunk carpet sipping what was left of their fountain drinks.

“Damn, it’s hot.” Kip began unbuttoning his shirt and pulling the tail out of his pants. “I’ve got to get out of these clothes.”

Purposely looking the opposite direction, Annie fought the urge to take a glimpse of a shirtless Kip, but instead looked out at the baking weeds in the field. She jerked upright when she heard his belt buckle clink.

“What are you doing?” she shrieked.

“I’m getting out of these clothes. I’m burning up.” Kip tramped to the car, walking around to the driver’s side back door, and leaned inside where Annie couldn’t see. She strained her neck and rose up on her knees, stretching to see what he was doing. A few minutes later he returned to their makeshift picnic spot wearing gym shorts, a T-shirt, and sneakers. Annie dropped back onto the carpet and pulled up a few blades of grass as Kip dropped beside her.

“Disappointed?” he whispered in her ear.

“Huh?”

“You heard me.”

“Why would I be disappointed?”

“You were hoping I was going to strip down.” He wiggled his eyebrows and nudged his shoulder into hers.

“Oh, please.” She went back to weeding the field, furiously yanking blades of grass and letting them flutter in the humid breeze.

“Come on, Coach. I saw the look on your face when I started unbuttoning my shirt.”

“Get over yourself.” She shoved back and then stood up, brushing the dust from her dress. “Should you call them again to see where the truck is?”

“What, don’t you like our little picnic?”

“Porter…seriously, we need to get back.” Annie glared at Kip where he lay on the carpet, resting his head in his hands.

“Relax, it will be here soon. Come lay down with me.” He patted his hand on the carpet and gave her his most salacious grin.

“Not a chance.”

“Come on…what are you afraid of?”

Annie stared at Kip, taking a tendril in her hand and twisting it tightly around her finger. She glanced over her shoulder at the car and then back at him, now lying on his side with his head resting on his hand. He patted the carpet once more and invited her over with a swoosh of his hand.

“Fine,” she said, joining him on the carpet and mimicking his relaxed position.

“Tell me about the mechanic.”

“I already told you. We dated in high school and he taught me all about cars.”

“Nah…there’s got to be more to the story.” Annie watched Kip’s soft lips curl at the corners. The memory of him leaning in to kiss her earlier in the day flashed through her mind. She sighed and flipped flat on her back.

“Not really. My father hated him…thought he wasn’t a good influence. We didn’t date long.”

“This is the first I’ve heard about your dad. You’ve never mentioned your family, actually. What do they do?”

“Oh, um…” Annie closed her eyes against the bright sun. “My dad is an attorney and my mom is a professional party giver.” Not a total lie.

“Sound like interesting people. I’d like to meet them.”

Can a beating heart bleed from the shattered pieces?

Her heart cracked when her best friend walked away; it completely shattered when she lost her family in a tragic accident.

Now orphaned at seventeen, Charlotte Peterson is forced to live with her former best friend, Jacob Parker. Charlie, a talented pianist, desperately wants their loving friendship back, but something is holding Jake back. The more she spirals into the darkness of depression, the more she needs him.

Jacob vowed to stay away from her—no matter how much he still loved her. Armed with secrets that would have destroyed both of their families, he chose to end their friendship and walk away, which nearly killed him. As he watches the girl he once knew begin to fade away, however, he realizes that their relationship is more important than the truth he’s hiding.

Now it’s up to Jacob to put the pieces of Charlie’s broken heart back together—even if it means revealing the secrets he so desperately wants to protect her from.

Will Jacob find a way to bring back the carefree, talented girl he once knew, or is it too late for both of them?

excerpt

Charlie

The next day, Jacob told me he would have dinner with Noah. I was so mad that I stormed out of the house, too, and headed to the lake house.
The door hinges creaked when I pushed it open, and it echoed through the empty house.
I sat on one of the mattresses and pulled an old, dirty blanket over my legs. The house was a mess, and I realized I should have started planning what I was going to do with it. Maybe I would hire someone to fix the walls, ceiling, roof, electricity, and who knew what else. Maybe the easiest option would be to demolish it completely and rebuild from scratch. I couldn’t do that, though—I couldn’t destroy this house with the memories I had concealed between these walls.
I hugged my legs with my chin resting on my knees, closed my eyes, and let my mind drift to a time when I didn’t have to fear Jacob and his coldness.
***
“My mom asked me yesterday if we had been here again.” I had said, sitting on the floor and hugging my legs.
“What did you tell her?” Jacob had sat next to me, and I’d let my head fall on his shoulder.
“No, of course not. I didn’t want to get in trouble again. Last week with our run away was enough.” I’d giggled, remembering our backpacks full of snacks so we could spend the night camping in the woods. We had been found a little after midnight, and had been forbidden to play outside for a week.
“I’m sorry—it was my idea. I can’t wait for the time we’re old enough to live on our own.” He’d grabbed my hand and set it on his leg.
“Yeah, only seven more years. The day I turn eighteen, right?” I’d asked, holding my breath.
“Sure. I’m going to find a job and start saving money to buy this house.”
“I’ll have to work, too, if we want to buy this place. My parents already told me it was expensive.” I had looked up to see Jacob’s eyes, which were set on the wall in front of us.
“Don’t worry, I’ll take care of you, Charms.” He’d kissed my forehead, while I closed my eyes. I then remembered something that Kylie had told me. It had kind of been a secret, but Jacob was… well, Jacob. I hadn’t needed a diary—I’d had him.
“Do you want to know something?” My smile and gleaming eyes had told him it was something good, so his face had lit up, while he nodded. “You can’t tell anyone, not even Kylie—especially not Kylie, since she asked me to keep it a secret.” He’d nodded again; it was an assurance I hadn’t need to ask for. “She and John kissed today, during recess.” Jacob’s eyes had widened and he’d stepped in front of me, opening his mouth like a fish.
“Really? I thought they didn’t get along? Well, I so wish I could tease John.” He’d sat next to me again, and we had fallen silent for a while. I’d then felt him tensing beside me, and I turned to him, arching my eyebrows.
“I-I was thinking.” He’d swallowed and avoided my gaze. “We never kissed anyone, right?” I’d tilted my head to ask if he was being serious. If I had kissed anyone, he would have known. “What if we kissed? Just-just to know what the fuss is all about.” He asked.
